Rarely a week goes by when we are not asked about Lindy’s first book Hobby Cakes and this is no exception. For those of you who haven’t seen it, the book contains amongst others:
- Mini car cake
- Fishing cake
- Dart Board cake
- Golf cake
- Mountain Biking cake
- Garden Shed cake
- Hot Air Ballooning cake
- Bird Watching cake
- Karting cake
Now a collectors item
Sadly this book is out of print so if you want a copy you’ll have to roll your sleeves up and do some searching.
Here are my tips for seeking out a copy:
- They do turn up from time to time on ebay but be prepared to pay as they always seem to be popular – £75 is the most we have seen it go for, £45 seems average!
- Have a look at the second hand book seller Abe Books which is a network of second hand book sellers worldwide.
- Try the secondhand book section of amazon
- See if your local library has a copy or can get one in for you

Hello,
I have been searching for this book on the web for the best part of a year and just cannot get hold of it. Sadly, I can’t borrow it from my local library, as I live in Germany.
Maybe it’s a silly question, but can’t you just get it
reprinted, if so many people are asking for it?
I’d certainly buy it straight away!

I did not publish this book myself, so unfortunately its not just as easy task of reprinting it. We have briefly looked into the possibility of resurrecting it in some form or other but as yet have made no progress on this – there always seems to be bigger fish to fry!

I’m afraid I’m not able to help, as it’s not possible to email you instructions, due to copyright issues and the fact that we don’t have them in a digital format! The book was written over 10 years ago and technology has changed. One day we hope that we may resurrect ‘hobby cakes’ in one form or other but for the time being it’s a matter of searching online for a copy.
