I love using patchwork cutters to help me decorate my cakes; they are so easy and effective. I have used the clematis cutter on one of the demonstration cakes in my ‘Cake Jewellery Gems’ DVD. I think it works really well and is so simple.
Clematis flower cake decoration by Lindy Smith
All I’ve done is embossed the cake with the various flower and leaf cutters and used brush embroidery techniques to create the flowers and leaves themselves. The centre of the clematis is created by using the very handy zigzag strip cutter included in the set – don’t worry full instructions for these come with the cutter.
The stems are created using a sugar shaper fitted with a large round disc, see my post on using a sugar shaper if you are unsure about this amazing tool.
