Hi Kerry
When you have my DVDs you'll see that I don't actually use icing sugar at all! I smear my work surface with white vegetable fat and roll out my sugarpaste on this, see my blog post on using white fat. I wouldn't recommend using water on sugarpaste to remove icing sugar - when the water dries the texture and finish of the sugarpaste will look different to the unpainted areas!
Hope this helps

Hi Lynda
As a beginner I am trying my best to finish off my cakes to the best of my ability and learning by trial and error, but I still can't get the professional look. How can I get a clean finish on my decorations and cake when they have gotten icing sugar on them from when I have been rolling the sugarpaste out?
I seen a tip which said, lightly brush down with a damp paintbrush. Is this the best solution or will it affect the icing?
Hope you an help, Kerry.
P.S. Love your work and can't wait to pick up your DVD for Wonky cakes AND Cake Jewellery. Just want to learn it all!

Hi Loretta
Please to hear you enjoyed my wonky cakes dvd. Regards covering ball cakes, these are the most challenging of all cakes to cover! Instructions and step by step photos are in my cakes to inspire and desire book - the Moth orchid cake. Eventually I plan to include covering ball cakes on a dvd but I'm afraid you'll have to wait a while for this!

Hi Lindy: I have just enjoyed your new Wonky cakes DVD. Extraordinary!
Question: What are some of the tips for covering and designing the baubles cakes? I am here in the USA and not able to attend your workshop on this.
