Many of you that have seen my wonky cake dvd have been asking about the corain work board that I use. The company where I bought mine, many years ago, no longer supply corian so we are delighted to announce that we have found a local manufacturer to supply us and that our first delivery of stock has just arrived.
If you are not familiar with Corian, it is a very versatile and durable material with the ability to be repaired, a rare commodity in today’s world. It is a blend of aluminium hydroxide and acrylic, is cold to the touch and has a smooth surface which is very hygenic. Corian is stain, impact, UV & heat resistant and over the years I have found it an excellent work surface for rolling out my sugarpaste and modelling paste. Unlike other non stick surfaces used by sugarcrafters, it is also possible to cut onto the surface of the corain with a sharp knife without it being damaged – a huge plus point in my book!
The only real downside to Corian is its price tag, however once you’ve made the initial investment it will last you a life time – I’ve certainly had mine for many years and as seen on the dvd its still going strong!
I use two sizes: a large one for rolling out sugarpaste to cover my cakes and a smaller one for when I’m doing small scale models or decoration. We have therefore decided to offer you the two sizes as well
Large size: 535mmx465mm (21in x 18in) – £85
Small size: 250mm x 175mm (10in x7in) – £35
Corain is heavy, so initially we are only offering the boards to customers that wish to arrange to collect. Please note we are not a shop so collection has to be pre-arranged by email or Phone Tel: 01296 623906
Go on treat yourself – I guarentee you won’t regret it!
