We are now well and truly into winter, but during the last few sunny days of autumn we ran a very successful autumn leaf inspired mini cake class and I just wanted to share with you some of the work that the students created.

I love the beginners workshops because I feel I am amongst friends! I started working for Lindy’s Cakes six weeks ago so I too am on a huge learning curve with sugarcrafting. What is fabulous about the ‘introduction’ or ‘beginners’ classes is how much the students learn in a day. They arrive full of enthusiasm and a touch of apprehension. They leave with an armful of knowledge, a sense of… Continue reading

I’m now home after my Australian cake adventure …. however I have lots of pictures, thoughts, tips and ideas from my travels to share with you all. To get the ball rolling I’m starting with the second workshop I taught at Iced Affair in Sydney – the novelty cake carving class.

Wow I’ve learnt so much since I’ve been here in Sydney on my Australian cake adventure. The seminar has whizzed past…… I’ve met lots of amazing people, seen some incredibly detailed cakes, found out about how cakes are created here and sampled the most popular flavours.
Did you know that sugarpaste has its origins here in Australia? From what I have discovered so far it was the Country Woman’s… Continue reading

Decorating cookies is always so much fun and Friday’s class was no exception.
”I could do this all day everyday” was one students comment!
The cookies that we decorated were all inspired by summer so first up was a pair of flip flops - there are so many possibilities with these, but as this was the first cookie everyone was to decorate I kept the… Continue reading

Well I think a very enjoyable day was had by all on Friday’s cheeky chimp cake carving workshop. I certainly enjoyed helping all the students achieve a cake that they were proud to take home.
The class was to introduce the students to the art of carving cake, something that many feel frightened of even attempting!
The students had been asked to bake a cake using my chocolate… Continue reading
