Book feedback Competition: Have your say!

Having  packed away the cameras, sent the text off to the publishers for editing and tidied away the cakes  it’s time to start planning afresh for the book that will come after the uber fabulous Contemporary Cake Decorating Bible, which by the way will be published at the end of September.

Lindy is, as always, full of ideas but  we’d like your input too!… Continue reading

Bellissimo bags: CAKE CARVING CLASS IN ROME

My last class in Rome and it was full of students from all corners of Italy – Sardinia, Scilly, Milan, Florence, Venice etc. Day three is always easier as everyone knows the ropes. We were using Madeira cakes, which are very different to the cream filled cakes that most Italians are used to. But the samples that we passed around proved popular, so much so, that I kept noticing students… Continue reading

Autumn leaf mini cake class

We are now well and truly into winter, but during the last few sunny days of autumn we ran a very successful autumn leaf inspired mini cake class and I just wanted to share with you some of the work that the students created.

Intro To Celebration Cakes class

I love the beginners workshops because I feel I am amongst friends! I started working for Lindy’s Cakes six weeks ago so I too am on a huge learning curve with sugarcrafting. What is fabulous about the ‘introduction’ or ‘beginners’ classes is how much the students learn in a day. They arrive full of enthusiasm and a touch of apprehension. They leave with an armful of knowledge, a sense of… Continue reading

Cakes in Australia – first impressions

Wow I’ve learnt so much since I’ve been here in Sydney on my Australian cake adventure. The seminar has whizzed past…… I’ve met lots of amazing people, seen some incredibly detailed cakes, found out about how cakes are created here and sampled the most popular flavours.

Did you know that sugarpaste has its origins here in Australia? From what I have discovered so far it was the Country Woman’s… Continue reading

Summer cookies workshop

Decorating cookies is always so much fun and Friday’s class was no exception.

”I could do this all day everyday” was one students comment!

The cookies that we decorated were all inspired by summer so first up was a pair of flip flops - there are so many possibilities with these, but as this was the first cookie everyone was to decorate I kept the… Continue reading

Cheeky chimp – novelty cake class

Well I think a very enjoyable day was had by all on Friday’s cheeky chimp cake carving workshop.  I certainly enjoyed helping all the students achieve a cake that they were proud to take home.

The class was to introduce the students to the art of carving cake, something that many feel frightened of even attempting!

The students had been asked to bake a cake using my chocolate… Continue reading

Beginners cake decorating workshop

Friday’s introduction to celebration cakes workshop was a great success -”I’ve had the best time ever”, “I’ve absolutely loved it”, “I’ve learnt so much” were just some of the comments from the students as they departed. For most students, covering and decorating a cake was a completely new experience, so they had a lot to learn.

As you can see below, they all did really well. The morning was… Continue reading

video snippets: Lindy’s cake jewellery DVD

I’ve had some great feedback regards the wonky cake dvd snippets I uploaded yesterday, so thank you…..but there’s more….here is the taster for the cake jewellery DVD.  The running time of the dvd itself is 135 minutes on disc one plus extras of 24 minutes on disc two, this clip is only just over 7 minutes long so it only contains a very small fraction of the overall material… Continue reading
