Introduction to Celebration Cakes Feb 2011

Introduction to Celebration Cakes is our absolute favorite workshop…we never leave this popular course off our workshop programme because it is just too fabulous!  Time and time again we are told that even if you have some sugarcraft experience, this course is fantastic for perfecting the finish of your cake and for picking up hints and tips that will become invaluable! I think our cake friend, and serial workshoppper, Julie… Continue reading

Handbag Workshop: September 2010

This is the workshop where food meets fashion…couture meets cakes…sugarpaste meets style!  This is our second handbag workshop and judging by the feedback and interest this course has evoked it will remain on our programe for some time!  Lindy loves fashion and is very interested in design. Every day she arrives at the office with either a design idea, an object that has inspired her or a photograph of something… Continue reading

Designer Handbag Workshop

Haute Couture comes to Lindy’s Cakes… in the form of handbags! This new workshop, designed by Lindy, was a ‘runway’ success today! Whilst we love our regular workshops, and there will always be themes that are old favourites, it is lovely to work in a new direction. And ‘fashion’ is definitely a new direction for Lindy. Edible handbags…food and fashion fusion…surely that’s the ultimate!

Lindy started the workshop, as… Continue reading

Cutwork Mini Cakes Workshop

If there’s one style that, to me at least, epitomises Lindy’s style it’s ‘cutwork’. The iconic ‘cutwork’ wonky cake is,  in my opinion, her finest example. Take this concept one step further… a mini ‘cutwork’ cake and voila you have something quite special indeed! I love little cakes. Dainty and pretty. Perfect for one or two… sometimes you just don’t want a big cake.  As we tighten our belts and… Continue reading

Kiwi Rachel’s Quick Chocolate Cake!

This cake truly deserves a much more glamorous name. I have been baking it since my mother taught me the recipe in the 1980s, an eager teenage cook desperate to emulate my mother’s glorious creations! It has a certain nostalgia in our family appearing at all birthdays and special events through the decades to this very day. A versatile sponge that works equally well iced simply, served with a cup… Continue reading

Cheeky chimp – novelty cake class

Well I think a very enjoyable day was had by all on Friday’s cheeky chimp cake carving workshop.  I certainly enjoyed helping all the students achieve a cake that they were proud to take home.

The class was to introduce the students to the art of carving cake, something that many feel frightened of even attempting!

The students had been asked to bake a cake using my chocolate… Continue reading

Chocolate mud cake recipe

Ummm who can resist a really good, moist chocolate cake? I’ve been experimenting with the Australian wedding favourite – mud cake. As many of you may know I am demonstrating at the National Cake Seminar in Sydney in August, so I thought a little background research would be good….. a great excuse to eat lots of chocolate!

I’ve tried three recipes – I’m aware that UK ingredients… Continue reading
