The Christmas Bauble Workshop is fast becoming our most popular Christmas time class.  This course is magical! A round cake in the shape of a Christmas Bauble…’No way’ you say! Well… I’ve seen it being done and these beautiful baubles are  impressive!  The baking is crucial in the process of creating this cake. The cake is made in a specially designed ball tin, thus creating the perfect sphere to cover.

We are now well and truly into winter, but during the last few sunny days of autumn we ran a very successful autumn leaf inspired mini cake class and I just wanted to share with you some of the work that the students created.

I love the beginners workshops because I feel I am amongst friends! I started working for Lindy’s Cakes six weeks ago so I too am on a huge learning curve with sugarcrafting. What is fabulous about the ‘introduction’ or ‘beginners’ classes is how much the students learn in a day. They arrive full of enthusiasm and a touch of apprehension. They leave with an armful of knowledge, a sense of… Continue reading

There’s no going back!  Having said to Lindy that even if my whale turned out like a blue blob my little boys would love it, I have actually come home with, if I may say so myself, a rather fabulous… Continue reading

Eight keen students embarked on their introduction to celebration cakes workshop and eight fabulous cakes were created! Lindy got things underway by introducing the students to sugarpaste. She did a taste test of four different makes of sugarpastes to show how they can differ and to see which one the ladies liked the best. She then moved on to the covering of the board with sugarpaste to give a professional finish.

Lindy talked about… Continue reading

I’m now home after my Australian cake adventure …. however I have lots of pictures, thoughts, tips and ideas from my travels to share with you all.  To get the ball rolling I’m starting with the second workshop I taught at Iced Affair in Sydney – the novelty cake carving class.

This cake was designed, literally, on the back of an envelope, whilst talking to my publishers on… Continue reading

I am having such fun teaching my Australian students that I’ve not had much time to keep you all up to date, except via twitter! However today I’m flying down from Brisbane to Melbourne so you’re in luck – I’ve a few hours to kill!

Classes are going swimmingly, I’ve taught quite and few now, all full of very enthusiastic sugarcrafters keen and eager to learn what I have… Continue reading
