Hobby Cakes was my first book and a lot of fun to create, especially the cakes which I designed with friends and family in mind:- crosswords and brewing for my father, mountain biking for my brother and karting for husband to name a few.

The book shows you how to create your own personalised hobby cakes and how to achieve a range of special effects that you can use time and time again e.g. grass, bricks, water, rocks etc. It also includes basic recipes, details on colour mixing together with a section on how to make life like figures and how to dress them. For each cake featured there is also an introduction to the history of the hobby- interesting facts to tell the cakes recipient!!

I hope that by providing a wide variety of hobby cakes and simple step by step instructions readers will make their very own cakes to delight and surprise people. I love experimenting especially with new techniques and designs and I hope my book inspires others, whether beginner or expert, to have a go too.
