Cake carving class with Lindy Smith
Create your very own stunning Christmas Tree cake, inspired by Lindy’s cake which appeared in the Dutch “Mjam Taart” magazine. Make a truly special celebration centrepiece that will delight friends and family at this special time of year.
A wonderful cake carving course where you will learn how to carve your cake effectively to create a tree with contemporary shape and style.
You do need to be comfortable with working with sugarpaste. It also helps to have carved at least one cake before, but not essential. A previous Lindy’s workshop would also be advantageous but not obligatory.
What the course will cover:
Lindy is detailed and meticulous in her approach to carving because this is the canvas to a fabulous looking cake. Getting this right is important, so you will spend time learning and practising the skills by slowly carving your cake into shape. Then the fun begins with the covering and adorning of your tree shaped cake. Lindy will share some fantastic tips and techniques for adding the special detail to your tree that makes it unique and different including piping with royal icing.
What you can expect:
This is a fun but challenging class. The focus is on carving, so Lindy has devised a step-by-step approach to this cake which means it becomes very manageable for all. Expert tuition by Lindy is the main focus of the day. As with every Lindy Smith workshop you will have Lindy and her team supporting you every step of the way. Our workshops are fun, informative and supportive. We pride ourselves on our ability to make our students feel at ease and encouraged, giving assistance where needed and space when not. You will end the day having created a stunning Christmas Tree cake and will have gained valuable sugarcraft knowledge, techniques and tips for use in all aspects of your sugarcraft. What you need to bring:
Once you have booked your place on the Carved Christmas Tree Cake class we will send you a comprehensive information pack including a list of what you need to bring. Included in this list will be:
A 25.5cm (10″) square Madeira or Chocolate cake (recipes will be supplied), a pre-covered cake board (instructions will be provided if you want to create one similar to Lindy’s), sugarpaste, modelling paste, royal icing, plus tools and equipment that will be listed in your information pack.
N.B. Many of the items you will need can be purchased in advance from us – we give you a 10% discount on class pre-orders – alternatively you can buy many products on the day.
