Inspire:

We believe this is an essential class for anyone interested in learning how to ice a cake successfully. It is the perfect ‘beginners’ class because the focus is simply about working with sugarpaste and achieving a professional finish.

Why:

To learn the secrets of achieving  a smooth finish to your icing. To give your cake the ‘wow’ factor! To become confident in working with sugarpaste.

Who:

students at work

Students hard at work covering their cakes, some for the very first time – well done everyone.

This class is designed for beginners . You may have never used sugarpaste before or have even covered a cake, so this is a fabulous class to be taught these basics by Lindy. However, whilst this class is designed for the ‘beginner’ we know from our student feed-back that this back-to-basics class is very useful for the more confident sugarcrafter who struggles to achieve a smooth professional iced finish on their cakes.

What the course will cover:

This class will cover the basics of handling, colouring and rolling out sugarpaste plus covering a board and cake. Lindy will also introduce you to a few simple, highly effective ways to decorate your covered cake.

What you can expect:

happy students

Happy students at the end of class

Lindy has designed this class to be step-by-step and will move at a pace suitable for the beginner. You will be given lots of time to perform the tasks set out by Lindy. Expert tuition by Lindy is the main focus of the day. Our workshops are fun, informative and supportive. We pride ourselves on our ability to make our students feel at ease and encouraged, giving assistance where needed and space when not. You will end the day having iced and decorated a celebration cake and will have gained valuable sugarcraft knowledge, techniques and tips for use in all aspects of your sugarcraft. We want you to have fun, learn a lot and become a cake friend of Lindy’s Cakes Ltd.

What our students say:

Cannot recommend this course enough – I loved it!  Had been decorating cakes for friends and family for a little while, but could never get a good finish so went along to learn the tricks of the trade and came away learning those and so much more! ” – Julie Marney

“ Thank you SO much for the most enjoyable workshop on Friday. I appreciate that all the Lindy staff worked very hard to ensure that we gained the most from the course. I was absolutely thrilled with my decorated cake and felt that I learnt so many things, not only about the decorating but just as importantly, about the actual cake baking itself. Can’t wait to try out all the new equipment I bought – am definitely hooked and look forward to signing up to another course in the future. Thank you also to Rachel for a superb lunch and to Sally for the luscious lemon cake. And lastly (but not leastly) THANK YOU Lindy for the inspiration – it was a pleasure to meet you.” Tricia Oliver
