Essential details you need to know
Before you decide on which class to book take a look at the questions and answers below to help give you a little bit more of an insight into how we run our courses.
Our very own Lindy Smith! World renowned for her designs, writing and teaching Lindy is a highly experienced and talented contemporary cake designer and sugarcrafter. Recognised for her exquisite attention to detail and eye for colour, Lindy is passionate about her art and brings a fresh modern look to sugarcraft design.
How many students per class?
No more than 6-8 students in any one class. Pick & Mix classes are no more than two.
When do you hold classes?
We hold one day classes on Fridays and evening classes mid week during UK school term time, but exact dates do depend on Lindy’s availability – she loves teaching but has to fit in many commitments into her busy schedule!!!!
Where are the classes located?
Lindy’s Cakes is based in the beautiful South Shropshire hills and classes are usually held nearby, currently at The Clive (next door to the Ludlow food centre). Lindy however does occasionally teach at other locations so please do check individual class details.
What times are your classes?
One day classes run from 10am – 4pm with a 30 minute lunch break. Evening classes run from 7.30pm- 9.30 pm. We ask you to arrive 10 minutes early so that the class can start on time.
How much does a class cost?
£145 per day or £35 for an evening taster session (including VAT)
Are refreshments included?
For full day classes we provide you with tea or coffee when you arrive, mid morning refreshments often including cake plus a light lunch. Refreshments are not provided for have a go evening sessions but if you’d like a meal before the class or a drink afterwards The Clive restaurant and bar is on the doorstep.
What will I need to bring?
Evening taster sessions everything is provided so just bring your enthusiasm.
For full day classes we will send you a comprehensive information pack which includes a list of all the materials and equipment required for the day. Most of our students have built up a collection of equipment, however if you do not have items that are essential, you will receive a 10% discount voucher to spend in our online shop, which you can use for these or anything else you wish to treat yourself too! Don’t worry if you are new to sugarcraft and prefer to ‘try before you buy’ some equipment can be borrowed on the day just let us know in advance so we can be prepared.
Do I get any discounts?
Full day class students receive 10% discount to spend in our online shop before their class, all orders must be received at least 1 day before a class to receive this discount!
How can I pay?
If you would like to book a place on one or more of these workshops please pay by one of the following methods:

Please note that if a course is full you will be unable to book, please contact us if you wish your name to be added to our waiting list.

Please note that our telephones are usually manned between 9am and 2pm (UK time) Monday to Friday. If no one is available to take your call please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
TIP: The best time to call is mid morning!
Can you recommend somewhere to stay?
We have many students who travel long distances to be with us. If you would like to include an overnight stay with your visit please contact us for our current list of suggested places to stay. We have included all types of accommodation from traditional pubs to modern international chains of Hotels.
Can you recommend a class which is suitable for me?
Firstly we suggest that you read the individual class pages for the classes that you may be interested in, then if you are still uncertain as to whether a class is suitable for your skill level and experience, we are more than happy to advise you by email or by telephone.
